To introduce a new Nike Air Max 90 colourway Nike and Foot Locker have paired max-o-matic with F.C. Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets. Max was asked to take the Sergio’s off-pitch personality, style and enthusiasm and turn it into a unique ‘Nike Air Max 90’ portrait.

AKQA Amsterdam filmed the pair when they met and you can see the trailer HERE.

superexpresso Ai Records

superexpresso Ai Records29/November/2009

We’ve already posted about Ai Records celebrating it’s tenth anniversary by releasing a very special project – aptly named ‘When I Was Ten’.  That was C+D (formerly Hide Your Toys) producing the first sleeve but this is superexpresso’s design for the tenth and final cover.

Aptly named ‘When I Was Ten’, this is part of a project using ten artists to design a sleeve, with each design then being lovingly hand screenprinted onto both sides of each sleeve.

John Slade goes GLUG28/November/2009

This event took place way back at the end of October but we didn’t put anything up from it which was a crying shame so here it is – Glug invited John Slade down to the Russian Club Studios in Dalston along with a handful of other prominent London artists.  What have you got against those nice smiley faces John?

Words as Pictures - superexpresso comments on type

Words as Pictures - superexpresso comments on type18/August/2009

Superexpresso appeared in an article entitled 'Words are Pictures' in the June edition of ComputerArts magazine.

Speaking of his approach to type, superexpresso is quoted as saying "I consider myself a hybrid between illustrator and typographer.  I never studied the strict rules of legibility in depty, but I like mixing language with illustration to enhance the storytelling possibilities of letterforms.  Letters are one of the main tools of design; their function is to communicate concepts.  I love to modify their form when possible; to change their structure and shape; to make them funny or dirty depending on the project."

Superexpresso in CoSTUME NATIONAL’s C’N’C magazine03/August/2009

Superexpresso (Michele 'Mike' Angelo) was featured in a double-page spread in CoSTUME NATIONAL's C'N'C magazine with friend and studio partner Alex Trochut recently.  CoSTUME NATIONAL is, in their own words, a "luxury goods brand with an innovative style, based on its ability to merge street and couture with day and evening wear elements". Their magazine looks at the goings-on in all elements of the design world from Europe and beyond, and the spread features a collaborative piece by Mike and Alex - PsicoTipoGrafico
